Denim for the Weekend

I've been on a denim uniform lately, mixing and matching denim shirts with jeans, black jeans and shorts. Today, these pictures were snapped right before heading off to enjoy the weekend, and the look pretty much summarizes the weekend... relaxing next to the beach. Since I've been wearing denim almost nonstop this summer, I wanted to add something different to the look, so I went for my leopard print loafers. My instinct was to use my leather ballerina flats, but when I saw the effect of unexpectedness the loafers gave the look I decided to leave my instincts aside. Even though both shades of denim are on the lighter wash, the shorts are slightly darker and also have the ripped effect, which creates some differentiation between the top and the bottom, a must have in pulling off the denim on denim look. I promise that the next post will have nothing to do with denim! Hope you like this post and enjoy your weekend!

Blue & Black Denim

Combining a light washed denim blouse with black skinny jeans and statement jewelry automatically ups the sophistication factor in this look. The key in pulling off a denim blouse is having it be slightly oversized for a cool and modern take on what would remind us of our years of dressing like cowboys. This would be a perfect summer office look, maybe not for a traditional office setting, but super appropriate for a more laid back/artistic vibe. You could switch the high pumps for some cool loafers and give the look a whole other style, more casual, but still really chic with a slight parisian flair. What's your summer wardrobe looking like?

Let me know what you think!

Denim on Denim

A great denim shirt is a must have in any closet, and particularly useful during summer days. This one, I've used as a cover up for the beach, paired with shorts for walks and dressed it up more (like this look). This blouse is from Old Navy and it was a great buy, it has an amazing fit, it's super comfortable and really airy, which is crucial for warm days; I have to give kudos to my boyfriend who actually spotted it, gotta love him. When it comes to denim on denim I'm all in for playing with washes, I'm not too fond of matchy, matchy, so I do prefer mixing darker hues with lighter ones. Denim blouses can work as neutrals, so you can pair them with denim jeans, go for black ones for a more dressed up version or pair it with white shorts, or really any colored bottom for a great crisp summer look. Hope you like this look.
