Bidding Adieu to Summer Days

I'm back in New York, and like everyone I'm trying to find that balance between school, work and the blog, the first two have obviously taken most of my time, but I'm back! This weekend made one thing obvious, Fall has definitely arrived! These pictures are a couple of weeks old, so in light of colder temperatures I bid farewell to summer wear. These shorts were definitely one of my favorite things to have during Summer, their print and pop of color made them an effortless statement piece. During Summer I was really into understated everyday leather bags and it's transitioning into my Fall wear. My Huarache sandals are Ix Style, they're an amazing company that makes making a difference easy and stylish.

Estoy de vuelta en Nueva York y muchos, ando buscando el balance perfecto entre mis estudios, trabajo y el blog. Definitivamente los primeros dos han tomado todo mi tiempo hasta el momento, pero ya estoy de vuelta. Este pasado fin de semana marcó la llegada de otoño. La llegada de otoño me ha hecho despedir mi ropa veraniega, haciendo este "post" en honor a mi despedida. Estos pantalones cortos fueron una de mis piezas favoritas durante el verano, su estampado y detalle colorido lo hacen fácilmente llamativos. Otro "must" de mi verano fueron bolsos simples de cuero, algo que estoy llevando para el otoño. Mis sandalias huarache son Ix Style, estoy totalmente obsesionada con estas sandalias que me permiten hacer la diferencia fácil y con estilo.

Beach Style

I find scarves to have some of the most beautiful prints and colors, so I'm always trying to find a different way to use them, besides the traditional around your neck or bag. I wore this to go to the beach earlier in the week; I wanted to wear something different, not your usual cover-up and thought this would be a great idea. A belt is a must to be able to achieve the blouse look with the scarf, I prefer to use a thin belt, so it maintains that laid back appearance. The bright colors of the scarf made it perfect for a beach look and I just added this white clutch to literally take the look from the sand to a restaurant for an early dinner. Siempre he pensando que los "scarves" tienen los estampados y colores más bonitos de todas las piezas de ropa que podemos usar, por lo que siempre ando tratando de encontrar formas nuevas de usarlos. Usé este "scarf" como blusa para ir a la playa durante la semana; quería usar algo diferente a los "cover ups" tradicionales. El cinturón es totalmente necesario para poder lograr el look de una blusa. Prefiero usar un cinturón finito para un look de playa, uno ancho le da un toque más formal al look. El estampado y los colores brillante hicieron el "scarf" perfecto para un look de playa, solo le tuve que añadir una cartera para llevarlo de la playa a un restaurante. ¡Espero que les guste este post!

The Casual Weekend Look

As you can see from the photos, the setting was very much an adventure, and the look... super casual. A great way to make any casual look more interesting is by adding a statement piece, for this look the statement piece was the shirt. The print of this shirt instantly makes the look more eye catching. I decided to play off the shirt's color and went for these Ikat inspired espadrilles in red, orange and white. I'm a huge fan of braids, and they're definitely a must for Summer. A braided crown always looks really feminine with a boho twist to it; it's also, another way to make your casual look more stylish. Como pueden ver por las fotos, el local fue todo una aventura y el look, muy casual. Hay muchas maneras para hacer el look más casual verse interesante. Para este look, la pieza clave fue la blusa, su estampado automáticamente llama la atención. Quise jugar con los colores de la blusa y escogí estas alpargatas en un estampado de Ikat. Recogernos el pelo en verano es súper común y una de mis maneras favoritas de hacerlo es con trenzas. Una corona trenzada logra un look femenino con un toque bohemian y es otra manera de hacer este look casual más llamativo. Espero que les guste este look.

Basic & Eye Catching

There's always a way to embrace the heat and dress accordingly! Ideally, that way would be laying on the beach, soaking up the sun and going for a quick dip in the ocean to cool off ( & repeat), but sadly, that's not always possible. There are basic pieces that are always a must in any closet, and a super thin tank top is one of them. This skirt's print makes it super eye catching and an easy way to fend off the heat while looking stylish. For an easy going summer look, the tank top and the simple leather tote were the perfect match. I'm kind of obsessing over my new shoes, they're like glorified flats. Siempre hay una manera para aprovechar el calor y hacerlo la inspiración de tu look. Lo ideal sería, un traje de baño e irte a la playa a coger sol y tirarte al mar para refrescarte, pero desgraciadamente no siempre es posible. Hay algunas piezas básicas que siempre debemos tener en nuestro closet y un "tank top" súper finito es uno de ellas. Siempre estoy en la busqueda de estampados llamativos y esta falda lo tiene. Quise combinar la falda con una blusa súper fresca y con un bolso de cuero para un look bien simple y estilizado. Estoy un poco obsesionada con mis zapatos nuevos, son como unos flats glorificados.

A Page From The Tourist Book

Every once in a while, it's nice to play the tourist card and stroll around El Viejo San Juan and Bahía Urbana. It was definitely a beautiful day, with bright blue skies and amazing sun. Obviously, with the amazing sun comes the really warm summer days, so a light look was a must. This silk Gypsy 05 top is the perfect compliment for any bottom, it dresses up the look, but with a boho, laid back flair. I must admit walking through cobblestone streets with these shoes wasn't an easy matter, but as soon as you hit flat ground their super comfortable to walk in and they look great.

I have strolled around El Viejo San Juan many times and it's always refreshing, but I have to admit that I had never really enjoyed Bahía Urbana as I did. It might have been the beautiful day, but it's a really nice and relaxing place to be. There are amazing lounge chairs where you can just sit with someone and chat, all while looking at the water. A veces es una buena idea sacar una página del libro de turista y caminar por el Viejo San Juan y Bahía Urbana, como si fuera la primera vez que lo viéramos. El día estuvo perfecto, súper soleado y el cielo de un azul impresionante, tengo que admitir que desde que me mudé a New York una de las cosas que más extraño son los cielos azules de Puerto Rico. Ya que el día estaba tan soleado, obviamente estaba muy caliente, por lo que un look light y refrescante era necesario. Esta blusa Gypsy 05 es perfecta para combinar con cualquier pantalón o falda. Al ser de seda, viste cualquier cosa pero por el estampado le da un toque "boho" y "relaxed". Caminar por los adoquines en estos zapatos no fue nada fácil, pero tan pronto llegué a piso firme fueron los zapatos perfectos. 

He caminado varias veces por el Viejo San Juan, pero tengo que admitir que fue la primera vez que gocé tanto en Bahía Urbana. No sé si fue por el día tan precioso, pero es increíblemente agradable pasarse un rato allí, ya sea sentado hablando con un amig@ mientras miras hacia el mar, o simplemente gozar de los alrededores.

Versatility

When you find a blouse that you can wear with shorts and espadrilles, black skinny jeans and 5 inch pumps and with a feminine skirt and ankle tied pumps, and it looks great in all three ways... that's a keeper. I love finding pieces that are super versatile and look totally different depending in the way you style them. I wanted to go for a really feminine look, but still with a touch of laid-back style. Layering different bracelets has been my go-to lately, I opt for mixing different ones, from really thin ones to bangles for an effortless look. Hope you like this look & have a great week!

Es todo un éxito cuando encuentras una blusa que funciona con shorts y alpargatas, skinny jeans negros y pumps altísimos y una falda de tabletas y pumps. Siempre que voy de compras busco esas piezas que sé que son súper versátiles y tienen la habilidad de verse totalmente diferentes, dependiendo de cómo las uses. Para este look, quise ir por uno muy femenino, pero con un toque casual. Desde hace un tiempo estoy mezclando varias pulseras y usándolas a la vez, las mezclo entre unas finitas y otras más grandes para balancearlo. Feathers & Colors

Hope you all had an amazing 4th of July weekend, Summer is definitely flying by! As you all might know, I'm a huge print fan and I know that sometimes finding what to match with a bold print might be difficult. I love when I'm able to match bold prints with other prints, for this look I didn't go for a busy print, instead I matched it with this t-shirt, that I absolutely adore. The design and the tassels add interest to the look, but the shorts remain as the center piece. For a more subtle look, I could go for a white linen blouse, or a black t-shirt. For a bold look using solid colors, either turquoise or yellow would work great!

This bracelet, which is also a statement piece is handmade by a friend here in Puerto Rico and it's the perfect way to add an exotic touch to any look. 

Espero que todos hayan disfrutado del fin de semana largo, definitivamente el verano está pasando muy rápido. Los estampados son unas de mis cosas favoritas y siempre estoy buscando cómo mezclar unos con otros. Entiendo que encontrar cómo mezclarlos no siempre es fácil. Para este look me fui por una combinación más sutil, donde el estampado del pantalón sigue siendo la pieza central. Los tassels y el diseño de la t-shirt le añaden un toque diferente al total. Otra manera sutil para combinarlo podría ser con una blusa blanca de hilo o con una t-shirt negra. Para un look más llamativo, usando colores solidos podrías usar una blusa amarilla o turquesa. 

La pulsera que llevo puesta es hecha a mano aquí en Puerto Rico y es la manera perfecta para añadirle un toque exótico a cualquier look.

Bright Blue & Fuchsia

I've already shared with you guys my obsession with espadrilles and have to admit that I may have too many pairs (if that's ever possible) of them, but they've been my number one choice of shoe lately. Combining bright blue espadrilles with a fuchsia top might sound hard on the eyes, but the fact that the look is so laid back really makes it work and look quite effortless. My favorite way to wear short shorts is by combining it with a slightly oversized, loose top and for Summer I feel like this leather tote is the perfect combination for an ultra-summery look. What are your must for the Summer?!

He compartido con ustedes en varias ocasiones mi obsesión con las alpargatas y quizás deba admitir que puede que tenga demasiadas de ellas (si eso es posible), pero han sido mi zapato preferido para el verano. La idea de combinar un azul brillante con un top fucsia puede sonar un poco fuerte, pero el hecho que el look es tan laid back lo hace funcionar y fluir súper bien. Mi manera favorita de usar pantalones cortos es combinándolos con una blusa suelta y si tiene mangas largas que se pueden enrollar, mejor aún. Esta cartera súper simple de cuero ha sido otro de mis must del verano, va perfecta para cualquier ocasión. ¿Cuáles son tus must para el verano?

Summer Styling

Getting ready for special ocassions during Summer can be kind of tricky... what do you wear to a wedding that's outside and the days are ranging between the high 80's and low 90's? I decided to do this post not just because there are tons of weddings during Summer, but because last weekend I was invited to a baby shower and deciding what to wear ended up not being as easy as I thought (I'll post some pictures of what I wore soon!).

This Antik Batik dress is a great option for Summer dressing, the detailing on this dress is exquisite and at the same time it has such an easy going vibe to it. You could wear as it is for a more dressier look or add a big leather belt to make it more casual.

For shoes and bag I went for items that would blend with the dress and in terms of jewelry I decided to just go for rings. The sleeves on the dress are long and puffed and it has an amazing V-neck with some tassel detailing, so rings would really be the best choice. I love wearing various rings at a time, but I always mix big rings with really thin ones to balance them out.

Escoger que ponerte durante el verano puede ser un poco difícil... qué te debes poner para una boda a pleno día cuando está entre los 80 y 90 grados. Decidí escribir este post no tan solo porque en verano hay muchísimas bodas, pero porque el fin de semana pasado fui a un baby shower y escoger que ponerme fue más difícil de lo que pensé.

Este traje de Antik Batik es una perfecta opción para el verano, los detalles lo hacen ver espectacular y tiene un look bien "relax". Puedes llevarlo solo para un toque más formal o añadirle una correa para hacerlo más casual. Escogí zapatos y una cartera que complementaran el traje y lo dejaran ser la pieza importante del look. Como las mangas del traje son largas y el cuelllo en V, decidí solo añadirle sortijas. Me encanta usar varias sortijas a la vez y cuando opto por usar sortijas grandes, las mezclo con otras bien finitas para balancearlo.

A Statement Top

With 90 degree days here in Puerto Rico is tough to imagine wearing a light jacket for anything, but you might find yourself a bit chilly when the sun has already set and you're eating or having drinks near the beach. The best thing would be to have a light jacket or a shawl to throw over your shoulders and keep on. This jacket is beautifully detailed, so I really wanted it to be the statement piece of the look. The black top was the perfect backdrop for the jacket to really come alive and the skirt goes perfectly with all the colors.

Con los días tan calientes en Puerto Rico es difícil imaginarse ponerse un jacket para cualquier cosa, pero... si te encuentras comiendo o dándote unos drinks cerca de la playa ya cuando el sol ha caído, puede que te encuentres con una brisa. Lo ideal sería tener un jacket liviano o una estola para ponértela sobre los hombros y seguir andando. Este jacket es súper detallado y quise hacerlo el centro de atención del look, combinando con una blusa negra. El azul de la falda y de los zapatos va súper bien con todos los colores del jacket, uniéndolo todo.

Skip Sandals This Summer

If the espadrille craze isn't enough for you to skip sandals this Summer, I'll give you another reason with these amazing leather slip-on flats. How To Wear Them

Si la oleada de alpargatas no ha sido suficiente para que olvides las sandalias como opción numero uno  para el verano, te daré otra con estos "slip-on" de cuero. Estos "slip-on" de cuero de estilo tradicional Maya tienen mucho más que estilo, por cada par comprado Ix Style donará agua potable a niños en comunidades con escasos recursos. Estos zapatos son ideales para el verano, los puedes llevar fácilmente de la arena a dar una vuelta, los puedes llevar con pantalones cortos, o con un traje veraniego. A menos que tengas unas sandalias espectaculares, te recomiendo que olvides las sandalias tradicionales este verano y optes por estos"slip-on" de cuero.

Summer Mornings

One of my quintessential items for days at the beach or Summer in general are oversized blouses. I still haven't found another item that's as versatile as this one. I usually pair them with shorts, like I did for this look or simply add a thin belt and off we go! I've been obsessing over espadrilles for some time now, I really think they're the perfect Summer shoes and I'm crazy over this laced up version from Soludos. Early weekend mornings around Rincón are always calm and relaxed, so a really casual and simple look was all I wanted. Hope you like this look!

Hay pocas cosas para un look de playa o para verano en general que me gusten tanto como las blusas anchas. Son de las piezas más versátiles, usualmente las llevo con pantalones cortos o les añado una correa finita y listo. No creo que exista mejor zapato para el verano que las alpargatas y llevo varios meses obsesionadas con ellas. Esta versión de Soludos ha sido mi zapato número uno desde que llegue a Puerto Rico. Las mañanas en Rincón durante los fines de semana siempre son tranquilas y súper agradables y solo un look simple y casual es necesario. Espero que les guste este look.
