Kendra Thompson Fashion Challenge-Animal Kingdom Trip

A couple of days ago I got an email from Kendra Thornton, a very well known travel expert that has been featured on television shows such as Tyra Banks and Nate Berkus, and was invited to participate of a challenge. The challenge was choosing one daytime and nighttime look for her upcoming trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom with her family. If you've ever done a trip to Disney you know there are a couple of things that are extremely important: comfort, functionality and of course, style. So, I was more than excited to come up with two looks for this challenge. I really thought since it will be during Spring, colors and prints were a must and that they should by a bit laid back, because after all it's a family vacation and you really want to enjoy every minute of it.

One of the exhibition I used for inspiration for the challenge was the Oasis. If you haven't been here you should definitely look it up, you'll see that when you're in this exhibition you'll be surrounded by lush, green plants and animals. So, the first look was all about comfort, but still very chic. I chose espadrilles because I'm slightly obsessed with them right now and they'll function like a sneaker, but will be so much more stylish. Florals and bright colors are perfect for Spring and since Kendra will be walking around, shades and a hat will be the ideal tools for a bright sunny day. I'm crazy over handbags and have different style, so I've learned that shoulder bags are the best when you're traveling and will probably want to have both hands free, plus the bucket bag is another staple item for Spring.

"I love a good family vacation. I’ve always been a travel enthusiast, and as a mom, I’m enjoying passing on this enthusiasm to my kids. My husband and I will be taking the kids on vacation to Orlando this year, and I’ve already had a lot of fun as I’ve planned our trip with the help of Gogobot, a wonderful booking website. One of the events I’m most looking forward to enjoying with my family is a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I’ve learned so much about the various exhibits there, and I can’t wait to watch my kids learn and interact. Before I enjoy this fun time with my family, I need your help. I’m in need of your personal style advice. I know I’ll enjoy myself the most at Animal Kingdom if I feel confident and comfortable in trendy styles. Will you help me choose the ideal outfit? To give you some inspiration, I’ve included a description of one of the exhibits I’m most excited to share with my family during our fun day at this park.  The Oasis Exhibits When we first arrive at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ll enjoy the Oasis Exhibits as we wander along trails for a self-guided tour. Several colorful signs will help us learn about the plants and animals that live in the world’s jungles. As we explore the exhibits, we’ll be surrounded by lush jungle vegetation. Waterfalls and a bubbling stream will add to the experience. In several places we can stop for photo opportunities at observation decks. We’ll see such animals as the exotic boar, a giant anteater, spoonbills, wallabies and barking deer. I want to be dressed comfortably in something that won’t embarrass my kids later when we peruse the family photo album.  Orlando Vacations I’ve always enjoyed traveling to Orlando. It’s earned a reputation as one of the world’s hottest vacation spots, and the family-friendly nature of the area makes it a great place to bring the kids. The hotels and resorts here feature family-friendly options as well, and there are so many great accommodations to choose from that I had a difficult time making my final decision. I’m so grateful that the friendly travel experts at Gogobot provided the information to help make my decision easier.  No matter what I’m doing when on a family vacation, I feel better and enjoy myself more when I’m dressed in cool, comfortable fashions that look great. I’m excited to learn what you recommend for my family’s excursion to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. "

For the nighttime look I decided to keep it simple with some bright details that add a lot of character to the look. Still very much inspired with the Oasis exhibit, this look has the same essence of the exhibit, but with a more dressed up version. The sandals and the clutch are what really make this look pop, which is always a great go-to to spruce up any dress you might already have. I found this bracelet and thought that there wouldn't be a better accessory for a style inspired in Animal Kingdom.

Hope you like these looks!

Spring/Summer Necessities

Schutz Frederica Embroidered Espadrilles,Soludos x We Are Handsome Espadrilles,Red Lips-ID Etsy Shop,Trailin Divis Tote Bag-Billabong,Karen Walker Shades,Zara Tropical Scarf

After spending the afternoon admiring all the amazing flowers at Macy's Secret Garden Flower Show I left feeling like I had actually been outside surrounded by an amazing landscape! So, since Spring is already among us and Summer is quite near I wanted to share my Spring/Summer obsessions.

Espadrilles are everywhere, and I mean everywhere. You can find them in all colors and prints, some with platforms and others in a flat version, like the ones I chose. I love these Mexican inspired ones by Schutz, but I'm super obsessed with these palm tree print ones... You can take the girl out of the Island, but not the Island vibe out of the girl. I can just see these looking amazing with white jeans, ripped shorts and skirts, I'm sure they'll be my go to shoe for the entire season.

Huge shades are ideal for the sunnier days to come, and a lighter scarf will come in handy! Choosing one with great colors & prints will automatically add so much personality to anything. The bucket bag is really trending and it's really a classic option, but like summer days always include beach days a big tote is a must! Layering delicate necklaces is always my go to, and even more so when the weather is warm, Red Lips-ID is an Etsy shop with amazing necklaces and they all go great together, and you really can't beat the prices!

Hope you like my picts & share your own must haves!

Making It Feel Like Spring

I'm still pretty new at this whole thing of seasons changing, I had always heard that Puerto Rico has yearlong summer weather.... totally understand it now. I'm sure I share with everyone my yearning for warmer days since Spring seems to be making us wait for her presence. I guess the best way to fill the streets and our lives with the slowly but surely arrival of Spring is by filling our houses/apts/rooms with beautiful flowers and adding much needed color to our looks.

Yellow is one of biggest colors for Springs and I'm totally obsessed with it right now. It's definitely a feel good color and it makes a great entrance. Pastels are always perfect for Spring, so matching this bright yellow skirt with this lilac top will perfectly balance the look and make it super feminine. I went for this Loeffler Randall bag in a mint color which looks great with both lilac and yellow, the black detailing is the perfect way to integrate the black sandals, and tie everything together. Oversized sunglasses are always my favorite, and I think we can all agree that Tom Ford makes some of the best out there.

So... maybe it still doesn't really feel like Spring, but there are some flowers blooming around, so lets just pretend it really feels like Spring until it arrives!

Hope you like this look!

Flor

An Unexpected Place With Edge

Black skinny jeans paired with a graphic t-shirts makes wonders. It's actually such a laid back no fuss look, but because of the graphics of the t-shirt it automatically looks edgy and full of style. I could definitely add a cool jacket and a pair of pumps to add a sophisticated touch to the look. This location was ridiculously random, I was going for a late lunch with my boyfriend when we passed by a place that we've passed a million times before and he pointed out that it would make a great space to take pictures, have to give it to him... he was totally correct! Hope you like this look & have an amazing weekend!

Let me know what you think.

A Little Color & Print

I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to storing my coat, gloves, rain boots and all the layers. Im a huge fan of bold prints and one of Spring's trends is all about tribal prints, and I couldn't be more exited! In part I'm excited for a little warmer weather so I can throw a cool jacket over my look and finally add colors to my style again. I'm a huge black & white combination freak, but I'm starting to miss the color accents. I'm obsessed with all the jackets in this post, but the first two are Billabong and they have amazing prices, which is making them even more attractive, at least for me. Hope you like this post!

Let me know.

Lou Lou Jacket- Billabong

Casual With An Edge

Finally! I hate that I'm not posting as frequently as I use to, but it'll be back to normal as soon as I get use to my new schedule. Obviously these pictures were taken while I was still in Puerto Rico, hence warm weather! I've never been looking so forward to Spring as I am right no, it's definitely easy to take seasons for granted when you live in the tropics.

Anyway back to the look, I love simple casual wear, but I always try to take it up a notch. For this look I decided to add these sandals and a leather envelope, I really love how the envelope adds a bit of an edge to the look. The white skinny jeans were a great way to highlight the lighter tones of the blouse, giving it a more relaxed vibe. Hope you like this look!

Let me know what you think!

Me dejan saber.

Island Time/City Time

I bought this sweater for my move to New York, but was delighted to find out it worked perfectly for the cool days in Puerto Rico. Obviously, here in New York I'm wearing it with a layer underneath and like 2 over it, it was much more simpler to style for this look. I loved the off-white color of this sweater, it gives it a more laid-back feeling than a crisp white would. I've been crazy over my new Longchamp bag which was a Christmas presernt from by boyfriend, I'm obsessed with Longchamp's understated elegance. Hope you like this look!

Let me know what you think!
