Labor Day Weekend Essentials

Happy Labor Day weekend! I'm sure everyone is super excited about this long weekend and probably have different plans, from just relaxing in your house after a long week at work to others planning to hit the beaches or hiking trips. These are some of my ideas for this long weekend! First of all I have to communicate my admiration for this Jason Wu piece, I'm not sure if I would dare wear these super short shorts on a regular day, but I would surely wear them for the beach or for a quick lunch near the beach, with the excuse that they are a beach cover up, but they are truly beautiful!

I found this mouthwatering image on Pinterest, and was able to track down its recipe! It's definitely on my to-do list for this long weekend, it's the perfect main course for a brunch and it'll be a hit if your with your little ones or friends.

This sunset picture of Rincon, P.R. pretty much summarizes what I want my weekend to be. There's never a doubt in my mind to what beach I prefer to go every time I go to one. I picked out my essentials for this relaxing weekend, and you can see by the choices that it's a no fuss, super simple look. A bright bikini is always a must at the beach and if you've been able to get a tan during this summer it's the best way to show it off! Huge hats are always really important to me, even though I love getting a tan, I hate to  burn my face. I always try to have a great book with me at the beach and they're usually business related, my mom read this one and highly recommended it! Hope you like this post & enjoy your weekend!

Contrasting

So, yesterday it eventually stopped raining and we were able to take some pictures! Whenever I'm wearing these black skinny jeans, which I've had forever ( it's so difficult to find the perfect pair) I always tend to go to these black booties. I love the black on black, and I'm also pretty short so I'm always up for elongating my legs, and this is a great way to do so, nude colored shoes are a great option when your showing off your legs. I'm a huge Marshall's fan, as I'm sure many of you are, I love that you can find incredible things and this blouse is a great example. I bough it there a while ago and I've styled it a couple of different ways, but until now my favorite way to do so is with black because it makes the colors pop. Hope you guys have a great long weekend & enjoy this look!

Stockholm Fashion Week Street-Style

Since it has been raining for a substantial part of the day and I haven't been able to take pictures for the blog, the next best thing I can do is search for style inspiration and share it! I love seeing how people mix and match trends and unexpected pieces, and street-style fashion is a great way to get ideas from. These pictures are some of my favorite looks from the Stockholm Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. One of my favorite looks is the skirt matched with the Chicago Bears sweatshirt, I've been really intrigued my this trend, unfortunately it's too hot in Puerto Rico right now to sport it, but I'll find a way. Black and white is always a favorite so I won't get into too many details about it, but I'm a huge houndstooth fan and love how it looks with the leather jacket. Love the all white look... after labor day wearing white? I say yes! Lastly, I've added a new item to my fall wish list, an amazing velvet jacket like the one in the last picture, love that velvet makes you think of delicate and luxurious, and this jacket has an army inspiration in the button detailing to contrast this ideal.. Hope you like this post!

Modern Sophisticated

Tanks like this one are simple in concept, but say so much. This top I've had for a very long time and I have worn it in many different styles, from sophisticated looks to more grungy ones. The top structure of this blouse is what makes it timeless and sophisticatedly sexy, only exposing the shoulders and drawing attention to the neck, which I find to be a strong way of being sexy. As I mentioned above this blouse is really versatile, for today I chose black trousers with really high pumps, and left accessories to a minimum for a young and edgy sophisticated look. You could pair this top with black denim shorts and a great pair of strappy sandals for a laid back warm night look or go for some structured white shorts for a more modern version of this look. There are pieces of clothing that stand the test of time looking as perfectly beautiful and timeless as the day they were first bought, do you have any pieces like this?! Since this blouse is pretty old, here are some other tops that are similar and I really like, Tibi, Tibi Transit and J. Crew. Hope you like this look!

Nail Art

Hailee Steinfeld

As I was immersing myself in Marie Claire's September issue, while patiently waiting for a doctors appointment I stumbled upon a fragment mentioning Zooey Deschanel's fun nails, which got me thinking about how nails have become such a spotlight, even having a "mani cam" when E covers the red carpets. It has always baffled me how these nail artists can get so many details into such a small space, and as crazy as some may seem they always look perfectly done. Personally, I like more simple art choices, dark colors and classic red, but either way I love this craze and that everyone from artists, to athletes, to basically anyone is onboard. Right now I'm really loving the metallic colors, especially gold. The extent of this nail craze is so evident that you don't even have to go to a nail salon, even major beauty brands like Essie are selling really cool at-home kits and new color options. Are you feeling the nail craze, or do you prefer solid colors? Hope you like this post!

Weekend Mornings

I love weekend mornings that start of really early, you go outside and actually do something, staying in all morning can sometimes be boring... Yesterday started of with a nice morning jog followed by a local Farmers Market where we got great tomatoes from a friend's farm, all with the best company ever. I knew I was going to be under the sun for a while, so I dress accordingly.... I went for comfort with the T-shirt and ballet flats, but was sure to still look stylish and feminine with this skirt, which I adore. A really bright look was ideal for the morning, the skirts' white and blue stripes gave it that touch, the hat was a total necessity, a huge bag was a must when shopping and not really knowing your final stop of the day! Hope you like this look & that your weekend is going great!

Camo Green

Hope your weekend is of to a great start, mine definitely started in an energetic mode! My favorite way to pair skinny bottoms is with a loose top, and visa-versa, I like the opposite function of tight and loose, I've also used the same fit all around, but I tend to prefer the opposites. I've always liked jeans, but I have to admit that they do come in second place to shorts, I'm a serious shorts aficionado. These pants were a great score for my closet, they function as jeans because they're super versatile, but in a cooler way and it's the perfect way to give them a rest. I'm a huge bagaholic, so when I got this one as a gift, I instantly fell inlove with its quirky shape and color, and thought that the neon trimmings were the coolest details... remember it's always in the details! Hope you like this looks!

Snickerdoodles

I have the fondest childhood memories of these delicious cookies, which I used to eat at a friends house. With time the idea of Snickerdoodles had escaped my mind and I had forgotten all about them, I don't know if it's because they're really not common in Puerto Rico or because other cookies are more prominent, but I just couldn't remember them. I found them again one day at Quiznos and couldn't believe it, the taste and smell of them filled my mind, but they didn't taste the same... So, yesterday while I was searching different recipes I found them again and decided that I would try and make them and here it is! This recipe makes pretty thin cookies, which would be the perfect compliment for ice-cream, and even more so if they're warm or right out of the oven! All I can say is that traditional baking rules do apply, I burnt my first batch by leaving it unattended for like 5 minutes, so be very watchful, besides that the results are great! Hope you try this recipe!

Savvy Fashion

It's really common for us to live on a budget, be it on groceries, daily coffee stops, going out with friends or on fashion... obviously. It's easy to get lost in all the glitz and glamour of designer wear, and wishing we could have that skirt that just came down the Lanvin runway, but, reality is, not all of us can afford it... depressing, right?! Fashion doesn't have to mean designer labels, dressing on a budget just requires vision and confidence in your taste. It also helps that many of these genius designers have teamed up with major retailers to offer more budget friendly versions of their items. I'm a huge bargain hunter, I guess I just love the feeling of knowing I found a great piece at a great price!

For this budget friendly look I concentrated everything around this spectacular dress from Phillip Lim's collection for Target, the entire collection is amazing! I decided to style it on the edgy side, so I went for these very modern/edgy ankle boots from Zara, oversized clutch and super modern jewelry. The idea behind this entire look was keeping a super tight budget and making sure all the pieces are extremely versatile, so you can definitely get your return on investment! Hope you like this look!

The Special Touch

Basic pieces can be the one of the strongest fundaments for an amazing effortless look. We all need to have those go to pants in which we feel unstoppable, while knowing we look amazing, even if we're going to the supermarket or a casual meeting. A top is equally as important, either if it's a t-shirt or a fancy blouse, we all have pieces that just make us feel confident. For today, I chose basic pieces and color combination, but added that special touch with this printed jacket. I always think that it's important to look like everything has been well thought, but not forced and adding a jacket like this is a clever way to give a rather basic look, color and print and make it anything but "basic". What are your go to pieces?! Hope you like this look.

Vintage Express

I don't think there is anything more comfortable than the boyfriend fit, these are pants you can really do whatever in. I love that their style is super cool and relaxed, but you can definitely style it up or down, go sophisticated or boho chic... the possibilities are really endless. I went for a spruced up version of a relaxed and easy look, but you switch the pumps for flats and the clutch for a satchel and it would be perfect for a day of shopping. All colorful looks are a bit of a rare species in my everyday look, but there are days when you have to give in and go color crazy and specially when you're trying to enjoy the last drops of Summer! Hope you like this look!
