Cinched

'

I love doing the black & white combination, it can be so simple and say so much at the same time. The first time I wore this t-shirt I decided to play with the sketch detail and combined it with a striped A-line skirt for a super bold look (here), today I went for a more simple look and paired it with these skinny black jeans. I added this cover up for the unexpected twist it gave the look, it gave it a really feminine touch with its flowyness, cinched waist and beige old rose color. I love outfits that come across as simple, but well though of at the same time, this is a perfect example of what could've been just a jeans and t-shirt look taken 1000 notches up with this clever cover up. I like pairing my skinny black jeans with these booties or any black pumps because it elongates the figure, making you look like you have these amazing mile long legs.  Hope you liked the post!

Summer Essentials

Every time sumer comes around I immediately think I need a new swimsuit, I try to analyze the situation and make it seem a logical suggestion since I do wear them all year round... This here would be my ideal summer outfit for a nice day at the beach and walking around. I have such a soft spot for beautiful printed bikinis that this Zimmermann swimsuit would be a dream to own. When it comes to coverups I love wearing comfortable and loose, this Billabong poncho is the perfect option, besides that I'm seriously obsessed with ponchos, it's great that you get to cover up, but still show your bikini while rocking a surfer chic style. These oversized Karen Walker cat-eye shades are great way to avoid the sun and they're plastic so the salt water won't ruin them and they have an ideal color. I'm all about fringe and tassels right now, so these Zara sandals and this Tory Burch bag are perfect accessories for the summer in general and they have a killer boho/surfer chic style going for them. Finally, I'm not one to necessarily stock up on jewelry when I'm going to the beach so a simple long necklace is more than enough in my eyes, this Ippolita one is a great example. Can't wait for long summer days at the beach... What are your  plans for this summer?

Let me know what you think!

Deep Colors

This is a super versatile piece of clothing, you can wear it either as a long tunic or as a dress, as I did today.  This tunic alone is like a blank canvas you can give it any twist you want, I decided to go for an exotic turkish inspired look. I chose this scarf for its deep colors and prints which played perfectly with the deep chocolate color of the pumps and the black leather clutch. This oversized cuff is a huge statement piece with its different colors and textures from its stones and keeps in play with the exotic vibe. How would you wear this tunic/dress?

Let me know what you think!

Island Living

Island living has many perks, the beautiful beaches is definitely one of them. My mom and I have been unknowingly collecting sarongs for many years, I say unknowingly because it hasn't been intentional, whenever we travel and find them we buy them, and that's besides the ones we buy here. I can't think of a more crucial summer must have, their prints and colors are intoxicating, and they have such an exotic vibe to them. The best part of sarongs is that you can wear them in so many ways, I wore it as a long skirt with this short blouse, but you can also wear them as a dress or even as pants. You don't necessarily need to travel to find them, this one is actually from Lucky Brand and it looks super different and exotic, but if you get the chance to buy a hand painted one, that's a keeper!

Let me know what you think!

Mixing Prints

I'm always up for the opportunity of playing with prints, and I couldn't wait to match this tribal inspired printed skirt with these bleeding polka dots. When you're mixing prints it's important to achieve an effortless effect, you want things to flow and not seem forced, in this case the beige color of the blouse helped more than I could've imagined in pulling the prints together. Since the skirt is pretty short and the heels are really high, the long sleeves balance the look out and help preventing the look from turning slutty-ish. Hope you like this look!

Mississippi Mud

I've already expressed in a previous post my love for brownies and all the memories that pop up when I'm baking them, but the star in this post is the Mississippi Mud. I learned to do this from my mom when I was about 7, it's pretty messy, but it's really worth it. Mississippi Mud is the delicious result of combining chocolate sauce and marshmallow fluff... so delicious!!! You definitely can't be counting calories for this one, it's an eat and enjoy kind of moment. It's really simple to make and if you have kids it'll be a total hit with them, and if you're tight in time it's a great way to dress up boxed brownies! Hope you try this recipe!!!

Chocolate Sauce:

In a saucepan heat 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, and 2 tablespoons butter over low heat just until melted, stirring occasionally; set aside.
In a heavy small saucepan bring 1/2 whipping cream and 2 teaspoons light colored corn syrup to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate mixture. Cool to room temperature before using.

After making the chocolate sauce add in the marshmallow fluff and stir to combine. If you can't find the marshmallow fluff you can just buy regular marshmallows and add them to the sauce and they will melt in it.

Color on Black

I was so excited today when I paired this Prabal Gurung shirt with these black skinny's, I had my mind so setup in pairing it with a skirt that I hadn't seen how good it would look with these black skinny jeans. I really loved how this outfit came about, it's entirely black from head to toe, but I infused bright colors and print through the shirt. This look has a rocker chic flair to it and the jacket adds structure and a modern edge to it. If you're not really sure how to dress with bright colors or prints this is a perfect way to do so, sometimes simple can go a long way. Hope you liked this post! Let me know!
