Closet Wishlist- Jackets

A quintessential item for Spring is the jacket! It's the perfect way to inject some color & print to your wardrobe without having to buy an entirely new wardrobe for Spring. You can go traditional with a preppy style blazer or modern & hip with a cool bomber jacket or anything in between. I'm particularly taken a back with the cool twist they've given the bomber jacket, I found this Rebecca Minkoff one that I'm crazy about. I just love the modern flair it has with the snakeskin embossed leather  and slight feminine touch with the pink-purpleish, but still true to its sporty heritage. This one is kind of pricey, so I found another version that gives you the same effect, but for a bargain!

Adding a jacket to a simple look, like shorts and a T-shirt gives it a complete twist, making it perfect to take from walking your dog to eating lunch and looking super stylish. There are clever pieces that can take your look from ordinary to extraordinary, as cliché as it may sound. Also, jackets are the perfect item to transition from Spring to Summer. Hope you enjoy the post!

Zig-Zag

It's amazing how today was the exact opposite of yesterday's amazing sunny day. Yesterday I was sitting under an umbrella reading and enjoying an amazing sunny day at the beach, but today it was really gloomy, insanely windy and all I wanted was to be covered up. I recently scored this poncho on a sale at BCBG and thought that I wouldn't be using it for some time, but it was the perfect item for today. I love wearing big sweaters or covering up with a huge poncho, but when your look is mainly about one piece it shouldn't be ordinary or boring. This poncho has an amazing finish to it and the zig-zag print brings color and interest to the look. The idea of a poncho brings laid back boho chic to mind and that was exactly what I was going for today. I decided to pair the poncho with my trusty ripped skinny jeans, booties and oversized leather bag; I think that despite the sudden weather change I was still on beach mode and just wanted to be relaxed.  Let me know what you think about the look!

Shortbread Cookies

Shortbread cookies are one of those treats that you can sit down and really enjoy. This recipe in particular gives a really light and buttery cookie. With Easter just a couple of days away I wanted to post a recipe that would be perfect for everyone in the family. Shortbread cookies hold the shape in which they're cut, so they would be great for using any type of cookie cutter, which is a hit with kids. The recipe is super easy, something that's always important and you can be sure that the results will be just as good. A great idea if you're celebrating easter sunday is placing the cookies in a deep plate and filling it with easter themed candies. For a more versatile idea you could definitely use wax paper and thin colored rope to create little packages of cookies and give to friends! Hope you enjoy the post & the recipe!

Classic Shortbread

2 1/4 cups salted butter, softened
1 cup sugar, plus more to sprinkle
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
1 cup cornstarch or white rice flour

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Using a handheld electric mixer on high speed, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Gradually sift in flour and cornstarch, stirring briefly between each addition, just until it binds together. Flour your hands and gently kneed until just smooth (do not overwork). To make dough easier to roll, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 mins.

On a floured board, roll out the dough to about 1/4'' thick. Cut into your chosen shapes.Bake for 15-20 mins. Sprinkle with sugar and let cool.

Croc Embossed

I went shopping during the weekend and bought this amazing Zara blouse, that I couldn't wait to style for the blog. I loved this blouse for its modern crisp look and detailed fabric; lately I've been really interested on sharp modern lines. The blouse has this incredible crocodile embossed pattern that I really wanted to highlight, so I paired it with short shorts and cutout booties to achieve an edgy look. You could pull off this edgy look with skinny black jeans or leggings for a more modest version. I decided on this reef cuff to add interest to the look and give it a spin, and what's best about it was the amazing bargain it was! Let me know what you think about this look!

Warm Days

Even though I'm super excited about bold and bright colors for spring, neutral tones work wonders for a laid back look. On super hot days, like today, I love pulling off looks that are light and fashionable and ever since shorts became appropriate for everything its been wonderful. I love these shorts because they look casual, but because of the high waistline they're taken up a notch and the blouse's flowy style adds an organic touch to the look making it perfect for lunch next to the water or buying flowers for the garden. On hot days it's extremely important to feel comfortable and have clothes that breath, because if not your day is going to start off on the wrong foot! Hope you enjoy the post!

Closet Wishlist- Sandals

When you want to show off your toes when it begins to get warmer, the perfect shoe for this job are sandals. You can go as basic as the traditional strappy sandals or choose a more modern take to them like laser cut sandals below. I included these Alexander Wang cutout pumps because not everyone wants to show off their toes, so these pumps are a perfect option. The cutouts in them automatically give them a fresher lighter feel as does the light blue color. I love neutral tone colored shoes because they elongate the legs, but If I want to add color I like to make a statement, I've particularly been loving blue-greenish tones. I chose some affordable options in both trends! Hope you enjoy the post! What shoes can't you wait to use when it finally gets warmer?
