If there ever was a power look, this would be a pretty good representation of it. Pencils skirts are a great way to show you mean business while still looking feminine. I looked up the history of the pencil skirt and was surprised to learn that Wilbur and Orville Wright had a really impressive role in it, and then Christian Dior gave it the spin of how we know it today. Houndstooth is one of my favorite prints for its retro feel. With checkers making such a big splash with Louis Vuitton's collection, I couldn't be more excited in pairing these two statement prints. Everything else I maintained relatively simple except for the bag, the graphic Alexander McQueen clutch gave the look a more modern style. Hope you like it!

Simple & Detailed

Yesterday I was going to an early dinner next to the beach, it had rained quite a lot during the afternoon so it was pretty chilly outside. I went for a really relaxed look with this white dress and fringed flats that would work perfectly for a quick stroll around the beach, but also appropriate for a nice time at night. I borrowed this necklace from my mom, I love how it's really detailed but at the same time it has a simple and relaxed nature, it really completed the look. I added this jacket to help me keep warm and the contrast between this flowy, crochet top dress and army-ish inspired jacket is perfect. Hope you like this look! Let me know what you think!

Retro Shorts

Lately I've had my eyes open for clever pieces that can transition from spring to summer, these shorts fit the bill. These shorts would be perfect for a spring luncheon like I did today, or with some fun flats and t-shirt for a nice day of sight seeing. Their redish colored stripes and fit give them a retro feel. I find that these shorts look better with a fitted top rather than a loose one, I chose this wrap around top to add texture to the look and contrast the loose fit of the shorts. Warm Days

Even though I'm super excited about bold and bright colors for spring, neutral tones work wonders for a laid back look. On super hot days, like today, I love pulling off looks that are light and fashionable and ever since shorts became appropriate for everything its been wonderful. I love these shorts because they look casual, but because of the high waistline they're taken up a notch and the blouse's flowy style adds an organic touch to the look making it perfect for lunch next to the water or buying flowers for the garden. On hot days it's extremely important to feel comfortable and have clothes that breath, because if not your day is going to start off on the wrong foot! Hope you enjoy the post!

Shades...

It's official, Spring is here!!! I wish I could write something like "put your coats & gloves away..." but winter is still holding strong. It doesn't hurt to day dream about warmer days, so as to help you with your vision I rounded up some of my favorite sunglasses to help you with the sunny days to come. My favorite type of sunglasses are without a doubt oversized, they're perfect for those mornings when you don't have a single drop of makeup on and just don't want to show your face yet, or they also work on protecting a larger portion of your face from the sunlight while looking incredibly chic! I tend to prefer rounded sunglasses, but it really depends on the shape of your face. The star of this post are definitely these Louis Vuitton Holly shades, they have this wonderful retro feel to them that I just love, but they are quite expensive, but an affordable option that would give the same effect would be these Tory Burch Print sunglasses. 

Everyone should have a great pair of sunglasses, they can be expensive, but if you take good care of them you could have them for a couple of years and you'll have a high ROI since you'll be wearing them almost everyday. I'm always obsessing over sunglasses, my mom always tells me that I would be happy walking around naked with an oversized bag and oversized shades, so that pretty much sums up my affection towards them! The Bright's

I found this blouse in a far corner of my closet, where you usually would place things you don't really wear, but don't have the heart to give away... I don't understand why I let it get to that corner, but I'm so glad I rescued it. At first, I was going for a monochromatic look and while looking through all my white blouses I decided to check the corner I mentioned and that's when I found this blouse and completely changed my mind. I knew that the colors of this blouse would stand out when paired with these white skinny jeans and that these sandals would play well with the blouse. I love layering, but have to admit that it can sometimes be difficult with the warm weather we usually have, so I definitely wanted to take advantage of the cooler days we've been having and added this blazer to the look. I love black & white, but when I can pull off a look that translates energy & freshness, I'll go for it. Let me know what you think about the look!
